Portable High Definition TV

While true HD resolution is not yet possible on the small wide-screen - defined as less than 19 inches with a 16:9 aspect ratio - there are a number of portable TVs that simulate HDTV or actually receive HD broadcasts either off the air or from a broadband source.
Definition of High Definition TV - What It Is and What It Isn't
To refine the definition a bit more, the portable high definition TV [http://www.myhdpackage.com/hd-tv-buying-guide/portable-high-definition-tv] must have either a self-contained power supply - batteries - or operate from a standard 12VDC source of power, such as a car or a portable external battery pack. In some cases, the portable HDTV is actually a stand-alone external monitor with cable to attach to a video camera.
Portable High Definition TV for the UK Consumer
Portable TVs have been in decline for a while, due to a combination of the conversion of analogue to digital transmission for over-the-air broadcasts and the wide variety of portable DVD players in both 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios. The PAL scanning format - as opposed to the NTSC format - also makes portable HDTV problematic because of the consumer market being relatively small.
Tuners and Accessories for Portable High Definition TV
Many of the new generation of portable HDTV devices include options for receiving broadcasts would-wide, either inbuilt DVD or provisions for attachment and connection options for iPod and iPhone devices. There are several that can decode HDTV, even if the realized image is limited by the less-than-HDTV required 720 or 1040 by 1920 resolution.
Emerging Technology for Portable High Definition TV
The bright spot on the horizon is the emergence of the Organic LED (OLED) technology, which has real promise of being able to deliver true high definition in a portable or hand-held HDTV device. Wide screen devices that are wearable - similar to sunglasses - will also benefit as they suffer a bit from the lower resolutions in recreating the impression of a 52-inch wide-screen in front of your eyes. The Digital Video Broadcasting - Terrestrial standards have been enhanced by DVB-T2 which will encompass HDTV broadcasts. The specification is complete and the physical layer is established; it is only a matter of time before it trickles down to the mass markets.
Prices and Availability of Portable High Definition TV

DVI to HDMI cables: Enables interfacing of computers with home theater systems

The advent of high definition television has increased the demand for DVI and HDMI. A DVI to HDMI cable can be used when a user wants to convert and relay video from a DVI source to a Lilliput HD monitor device without the need for a converter. Use of these cables has no negative effect on video quality as the same high resolution will be maintained. As such, there is no difference between DVI and HDMI since both make use of digital video signals, but the debate regarding which is better is an ongoing one. Both these technologies use the same encoding/decoding scheme and can be connected by using these cables.
The major difference between the two is that while Lilliput hd-sdi monitor a different 19-pin connector which allows it to carry audio as well as video over a single cable, DVI only carries video over a single cable. Available in varying lengths, ranging from 6ft to 15 ft, the cable is not bi-directional since DVI does not pass audio and it needs to be routed separately with standard audio cables. The cable is DVI male to HDMI male and is pin to pin compatible with DVI. Reduction in noise and elimination of electro-magnetic interference are some of its key features. This cable relays HDTV at 2.2 Gbps at a high resolution of 24 bits per pixel.
Since DVI and HDMI are compatible, one does not need adapters while connecting host and display devices with these video outputs. A high quality DVI to HDMI cable makes it easy and affordable to integrate a computer with a home theater allowing users to play content from their computers and display it on an HDTV. Many laptops are also manufactured with a DVI output and this cable enables connecting the computer's video card to an HDTV as well. It supports simple, enhanced or high definition video and works with HDMI monitors, portable hdmi monitor, Plasma TVs and Projectors. The user friendly connector allows for easy setup of the device.
These high-quality DVI to HDMI cables can be used to connect DVI to HDMI and watch high resolution video over a single connection.
